How to store CBD oil
A practical guide to light, temperature, contamination, child safety and following the manufacturer’s storage directions.

Key takeaways
- Compare the measurable label facts before interpreting marketing language.
- Use current manufacturer information and official UK sources.
- The FSA advises healthy adults to limit CBD from food to 10mg a day.
- This guide does not diagnose, prescribe or recommend CBD for symptoms.
Start with the current label
Manufacturer directions take priority. In general, keep the container tightly closed, dry and away from direct sunlight and heat unless the packaging says otherwise.
Reduce contamination
Avoid touching a dropper to the mouth or another surface, close the bottle promptly and do not pour unused liquid back into the container.
Store securely
Keep CBD products away from children and pets and separate from ordinary sweets, drinks and toiletries. Retain the original labelled packaging so ingredients and expiry remain identifiable.
Sources and checking notes
Official guidance and product information can change. Sources were checked on 3 August 2026; follow the current product label and latest authority advice.
