Key takeaways

  • Compare the measurable label facts before interpreting marketing language.
  • Use current manufacturer information and official UK sources.
  • The FSA advises healthy adults to limit CBD from food to 10mg a day.
  • This guide does not diagnose, prescribe or recommend CBD for symptoms.

Use the date and manufacturer guidance

CBD oils and foods do not last indefinitely. Check the best-before or use-by information, storage instructions and any after-opening period on the package.

Inspect before use

Damage, a broken seal, unexpected cloudiness, separation that does not remix as directed, or a marked change in smell or taste are reasons to stop and contact the manufacturer. Do not taste a product merely to test whether it is safe.

Record opening dates

Writing the opening date on the package makes manufacturer after-opening guidance easier to follow. Keep the batch number and receipt if reporting a quality concern.

Sources and checking notes

Official guidance and product information can change. Sources were checked on 3 August 2026; follow the current product label and latest authority advice.
