How to dispose of CBD vapes, pods and e-liquid bottles

Store a used device safely until it can be recycled. Government safety advice says not to put vapes in general waste or household recycling. Remove a battery only when it is designed to be removed safely; do not puncture or dismantle a sealed cell.

Use a retailer take-back point, vape-only recycling bin, supermarket collection point where accepted, or a household waste recycling centre that handles small electricals.

UK government guidance tells vape sellers to accept vapes and vape parts such as pods, coils and batteries for recycling. Keep these components separate from ordinary household recycling and ask the retailer which collection container to use.

Bottle rules vary with plastic type, cap, label and residual liquid. Do not pour unwanted CBD e-liquid into a sink, drain or environment. Follow the product packaging and local authority’s instructions; contact the retailer when the route is unclear.

Cardboard packaging can normally be separated where clean and accepted locally, but do not assume the bottle follows the same stream.

Although single-use vapes cannot be sold or supplied in the UK, old or returned devices still require safe recycling. Retailers’ waste obligations continue, and leftover devices should not be put into general waste.
